On 20.06.23, in cooperation with “UfU” (Independent Institute for Environmental Issues), a bicycle cinema was held at our school.
Together with five classes from Quentin Blake GS (5.1,5.2,6.1,6.2 & 6.3) and 10 pupils from Biesalski School, children cycled to generate enough electricity to show short films. Films on the subject of energy and Mr. Bean were shown. The children pedaled so hard that the bikes just bounced around the hall. A total of 8 wheels on rollers always had to be occupied by the kids. After hand signals they changed independently with the next drivers. During the whole performance (1h) the kids were queuing up to get a place on the bikes.
After the previous workshops on: proper ventilation/insulation and solar energy, this was a great way to end this school year. Currently UfU apply for the extension of the project. We are keeping our fingers crossed for this. Many thanks to Mr. Ackermann and his fellow campaigners!
