BILINGUAL CLASSES (SESB)

BILINGUAL CLASSES

Our goal is to provide a complete and integrated education through bilingual class groups and with lessons taught in both English and German from the 1st class onwards. The respective mother and partner language are treated equally.

Each class consists of approximately half English-speaking and half German-speaking pupils and is taught by a German and an English speaking teacher. Classes are split into smaller groups for the teaching of the respective mother tongue and partner tongue language lessons. The subjects of topic, music, art – and from the 5th class science, history and geography – are taught together in English. Mathematics is taught in German. In classes five and six, all pupils also learn French.

State European Schools are compulsory all-day schools . This means that our pupilss are required to be present from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (on Wednesdays and Fridays until 2.30 p.m.). Intercultural experiences can therefore be shared not only in the classroom, but also during extracurricular activities throughout the whole school day. Our educational support team is responsible for the UeA lessons (unterrichtsergänzendes Angebot) and before- and after-school care.
